The beauty of custom watchmaking lies in taking a familiar foundation and giving it an entirely new identity through thoughtful design choices. The Sumo Desert Wave is our latest interpretation of Namoki's Sumo case, a build inspired by the textures of nature and the timeless appeal of modern dive watches.

While it shares the same robust architecture as the Sumo platform, the Desert Wave establishes its own personality through carefully selected components that work together as one cohesive design.

Design Philosophy

The Sumo platform is admired for its bold proportions, sculpted case profile, and exceptional wrist presence.

With the Desert Wave, our goal was to create a diver that feels refined without losing its purposeful character. Every visible element was chosen to complement the dial, resulting in a watch that is balanced, versatile, and rich in subtle detail.

The Desert Wave Dial

The centerpiece of the build is the Desert Wave dial by Namoki.

Its intricate textured finish is reminiscent of wind-shaped desert dunes, creating a captivating interplay of light and shadow across the surface. As lighting conditions change, the dial reveals new depth and character, giving the watch a constantly evolving appearance.

The warm, organic texture adds personality while maintaining a clean and sophisticated aesthetic.

Built Around the Details

To complement the dial, the watch is fitted with elegant GS-style hands that offer excellent legibility without distracting from the dial's intricate texture. Their sharp lines and polished finishing create a refined, contemporary look while maintaining the practicality expected from a sports watch.

Surrounding the dial is a fully lumed chapter ring, adding both visual depth and enhanced low-light readability. During the day, it frames the dial beautifully; at night, it creates a striking halo of lume that reinforces the watch's tool-watch heritage.

Protecting the dial is a flat sapphire crystal, chosen for its crisp clarity and clean profile. It allows the textures of the Desert Wave dial to remain the focal point while giving the watch a modern, understated appearance.

Completing the front of the watch is a diver-style bezel that integrates naturally with the Sumo case, maintaining the platform's unmistakable identity while complementing the warm tones and textures of the dial.

Built on a Proven Foundation

At its core, the Sumo Desert Wave is built using Namoki's latest-generation Sumo Case, paired with the distinctive Bolt Crown for both visual character and everyday functionality.

Powering the watch is the trusted NH35 automatic movement, renowned for its reliability, serviceability, and dependable performance.

Together, these components provide a solid mechanical foundation for a build designed to be worn every day.

A Different Expression of the Sumo

The Sumo Desert Wave explores a different side of the Sumo platform.

Where traditional dive watches often emphasize boldness and utility alone, the Desert Wave introduces warmth, texture, and visual depth without compromising functionality. It demonstrates how thoughtful component selection can transform the personality of a watch while preserving the qualities that make the Sumo platform so enjoyable to wear.
