Introducing the Vantage Onyx
A Finemods × Namoki Build
Every watch platform has its own character.
The art of custom watchmaking lies in understanding that character, then reimagining it through a carefully considered combination of materials, textures, and details. The Vantage Onyx is our latest collaboration with Namoki, built around their new Chrono Vantage case and dial and designed with a darker, more understated aesthetic in mind.
Stealthy, purposeful, and contemporary, the Vantage Onyx takes the bold architecture of the Vantage platform and transforms it into a monochromatic chronograph with a distinctly modern personality.
Design Philosophy
The Vantage platform is defined by its strong geometry, sporty proportions, and unmistakable wrist presence.
For the Onyx, our goal was to take those qualities in a darker direction. Rather than relying on bright contrasts or traditional polished accents, the design embraces a restrained palette of black and grey, allowing the architecture of the case and the texture of the dial to take center stage.
The result is a chronograph that feels technical and refined, with a stealthy appearance that remains versatile enough for everyday wear.
The Vantage Onyx Dial
At the heart of the build is the Vantage Onyx dial by Namoki.
Designed specifically around the Chrono Vantage platform, the dial brings together depth, contrast, and a distinctly technical character. Its dark finish creates a deep visual foundation for the chronograph layout, while carefully integrated details provide definition without breaking the monochromatic aesthetic.
The darker tones give the dial a subtle presence in daylight, while changing angles and lighting reveal the finer details across its surface.
It is an intentionally understated design - one that rewards a closer look.
Built Around the Details
The Chrono Vantage case by Namoki provides the foundation for the build.
Its sculpted geometry and contemporary proportions give the Vantage Onyx a confident presence on the wrist, while the darker treatment reinforces the watch's stealth-inspired character.
Keeping the front clean and highly legible is a sapphire crystal, offering excellent clarity and the durability expected from a watch designed for everyday use. Its crisp profile allows the Onyx dial to remain the visual focus while adding another layer of practicality to the build.
The Strap
Completing the monochromatic design is a grey rubberised sailcloth strap.
The combination of sailcloth-inspired texture and rubber construction brings together two different qualities: the visual character of a technical fabric strap with the durability and comfort of rubber.
Its muted grey tone introduces just enough contrast against the darker case and dial without compromising the stealthy character of the watch.
The result is a cohesive combination of texture and tone that feels equally at home in casual and more refined settings.
Built for the Chronograph
Powering the Vantage Onyx is the trusted VK63 quartz chronograph movement.
Known for its dependable performance and practical chronograph functionality, the VK63 provides a straightforward and reliable mechanical foundation for a watch designed to be worn regularly.
Its quartz architecture also keeps the watch practical and low-maintenance, complementing the modern, purposeful character of the Vantage platform.
Together with the Chrono Vantage case, sapphire crystal, and technical strap, the movement completes a build focused on everyday usability without sacrificing personality.
A Stealthier Expression of the Vantage
The Vantage Onyx explores a darker side of the Vantage platform.
Where many chronographs use bright finishing and high-contrast details to emphasize their sporty character, the Onyx takes a more restrained approach. Black, grey, and subtle textural elements work together to create a watch that feels purposeful without being loud.
The combination of the new Chrono Vantage case and dial with the grey rubberised sailcloth strap gives the watch its own distinct identity - modern, technical, and deliberately understated.
It is a familiar chronograph concept interpreted through a more contemporary lens.
